What if booklet binding

May 9, 2011

section binding, and the stripes will go into slits, 15mm from the top.

What if -mockup (dodgy)

May 7, 2011

just to give a rough idea of what it looks like, how to bind it, the size of the stripes, etc

I will probably screenprint the cover (white on black) and change the type setting. The photos will be printed on thick paper, full colour and I will maybe print the stripes on colour paper. I will print another last mockup on monday to check all this, or make a plain one (Ill see).

this time for real – finished FIRST INSIGHT INTO TAROT

The introductory booklet, interesting fact it has as many pages as there are major arcanas (22), maybe I should number them using tarot cards rather than numbers!

allegorical tarot – making of

*******************************************************************

I tried a couple of things for the design, trying to put more than the type only —which was a bit too formal and cold— but also trying to avoid being too decorative.

I designed the back overlapping all the cards and then mirrored it and rotated it to create this pattern

Then I used it on the title card and thought this could be my solution for the cards

done – with two alternatives for the back, but I will go with the first one.

what if updates

☝ Flatplan of the booklet

The final piece of the what if project will be a booklet presenting, explaining and concluding on the project. If I have enough time I will also make one similar for the prototype project. I decided on a simple layout with one image/project per page and some sort of stripe or piece of paper with the explanations and process. When opened the format is proportional to paperbacks format (and fits in a A5 -economy).

☝ Reflection on the sizes

The mockup I made in order to work out the binding, the number of pages and stripes needed. I think I will try a perfect binding because with the section I have one stripe that doesn’t end in the right place.

☝ Some spreads (will be printed in colour)
